Organic Grain Farming Research Event, Washington State

Research Roundtable on dryland organic grain farming (From Ag Today)

Washington State University is inviting the public to an Organic Grains Farming Research Roundtable that will be held in Pullman January 10th and 11th. In 2009 WSU won grant funds from the USDA to support research into dryland grain farming in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Dr. Ian Burke, who leads the project, says the plan for the roundtable is for scientists to report on their short-and long-term organic field research, which includes organic transition studies, crop rotations, integrated pest management and variety development. Advisory input from growers is also wanted. The workshop will be held in the Lewis Alumni Center on the WSU Pullman campus from 1 p.m. Tuesday January tenth and conclude at noon on the 11th. It is free but people are asked to register by January 5th. You can do so by contacting Diana Roberts at WSU Spokane County Extension 509-477-2167.
