Whole Farm Revenue Protection Program: 2017 – 2018 Trends

It has been five years since the 2014 Farm Bill created Whole Farm Revenue Protection – a new crop insurance policy championed by NSAC for its potential to level the playing field for producers underserved by other federal crop insurance options. WFRP replaced two former policies and offered producers for the first time the option to insure the revenue of their entire operation, including livestock and nursery production. Make Your Voice Heard: Conservation Stewardship Program Interim Rule 

On November 12, 2019, USDA published the “CSP Interim Rule,” and will accept public comment through January 13, 2020. As a longtime advocate and defender of CSP, NSAC has launched a national comment campaign to ensure that farmers’ and other key stakeholders’ views on this interim rule are heard. The Interim Rule tracks some imporvements made to CSP in the 2018 Farm Bill, but it also contains several major problems and lacks details normally included in updated regulations. New On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials Program Awards Over $24 Million 

Conservation innovators recently received a major infusion of support from NRCS, which announced over $24 million in awards for On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials last month. Sixteen projects received awards this cycle ranging from $280,000 to $3,000,000. These projects will advance innovative conservation practices across 22 states by providing support to producers testing new and creative conservation practices on their land.
