Wisconsin Farm Looking for 3 Interns for 2012

Foxtail Farm, located in the beautiful St. Croix Valley in northwestern Wisconsin, about 50 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul is looking for 3 interns for 2012

They grow about 20 acres of veg which is marketed through their 300+ member CSA, a local farmer’s market, and the regional food shelf.

While certified no longer they continue to farm sustainably and are interested in producing great food and teaching and producing great farmers.  More information can be found on their website:  www.foxtailcsa.com

They are looking for 3 additional interns to help in all aspects of growing produce, including greenhouse work, planting and transplanting, cultivating, harvest and post harvest handling, etc.  These positions are for the full season, starting sometime in April and ending sometime in October.  Applicants must have a positive attitude and interest in farming, be healthy and strong with a good work ethic and respect for co-workers. Interns work a 48-50 hour work week, live in a beautiful turn of the century brick house, and eat really well!

Interns can expect to work hard and learn a lot about this type of farming.  The emphasis here is on production and learning how to farm for oneself.  All aspects of the farm business are open to interns.  Compensation includes all food, housing and take home pay after taxes of just under $700/month.

Interested folks can contact Chris and Paul Burkhouse by email at foxtailcsa@yahoo.com with a resume and information about why they want to work here.
