Currently, one acre is cultivated without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides, producing a variety of vegetables for a 25 member CSA, the farmers market, 3 restaurants and the local natural food store. Their farm project continues to expand with each season. CFP seeks an experienced and dedicated individual to manage the vegetable production operation. They specifically seek an enthusiastic person skilled in vegetable production, horticulture, sustainable growing methods, and human relationships. The ideal candidate will be a beginning farmer with some experience in farm management, who is seeking an opportunity to flourish. Responsibilities:

–       Crop Planning

–       Green House Management

–       Tractor work

–       Irrigation

–       Grounds Maintenance

–       Record Keeping

–       Harvesting

–       Soil Fertility Management

–       Resource Management

–       Pest and Disease Control Management

–       Volunteer Management

–       Scheduling and Leading Field Work

–       At least 60 hours of work per week during Spring, Early Summer, and Fall

–       Average 40 hours of work per week during Late Summer, Late Winter

–       Produce Delivery

–       Run Farmers Market booth every other Saturday, May-October

–       Fostering community

 

Qualifications:

–       Preferred academic degree, equivalent work experience, or both in related field

–       At least 1 full year of vegetable farming experience

–       Completed multiple seasons as farm intern or apprentice

–       Lead Intern or Assistant Management experience

–       Crop planning experience

–       Able to work successfully in a partnership

–       Able to lead volunteer groups

–       Competence with tools and farm equipment

–       Basic carpentry and mechanical skills

 

Compensation:

Base Salary $1,000/month, room and board. Increase in salary is dependant on success of vegetable production and growth of farm business. Possible stipends to attend conferences and workshops.
