Farm Job in Colorado:

All Seasons Farm, LLC is a USDA Certified Organic produce farm located outside Bayfield in the Pine River Valley of Southwest Colorado. All Seasons Farm is seeking the right candidate to support daily farm operations and to further the success of the farm in exchange for a salary plus room and board, more detailed benefits information below. Worker will help maintain the quality of farm and crops by operating machinery and doing hard, physical labor under the supervision of farm manager. Commitment of at least six months through the growing season required, although year-long commitment preferred with weekly hours reduced during the off-season. Bayfield, Colorado is in the heart of the San Juan Mountains and is conveniently close to world-class outdoor recreation, ski resorts, backpacking, rock climbing and more. This is a great opportunity to work hard during the summer growing season and maintaining free room and board for reduced hours during the rest of the year allowing you to enjoy all that the San Juan’s have to offer.

Expectations:

Full growing season commitment (May – October) REQUIRED. Calendar year commitment preferred. Off season hours are reduced while maintaining free room and board year-round. Work weeks will typically consist of 40-50 hours May-October, generally starting early in the morning. After October 1st, Worker will need to work 16 hours per week to keep room and board, but is free to get another job and/or enjoy time off and still live onsite through the winter. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Harvest and inspect crops by hand
    • Pruning tomatoes in greenhouse 1-2x/wk
    • Picking field vegetables 3x/wk
  • Planting seeds
  • Weeding
  • Field work & management
  • Irrigation work
  • Packaging food in on-site commercial kitchen
  • Record keeping for organic certification
  • Helping Farm Owner oversee day-to-day farm activities
  • Helping to manage & guide any additional part-time laborers

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Self-motived and willingness to work hard
  • No tobacco use
  • Hours start early in the morning, early riser will be most successful
  • Must be comfortable around dogs
  • Basic farm knowledge and experience preferred
  • Mechanical ability & skills preferred
  • Experience working with tractors and/or heavy equipment preferred
  • Green house experience, trimming tomatoes experience preferred
  • Understanding of basic irrigation systems preferred
  • Willingness to help in firewood business, if needed, a plus

Salary & Benefits:

  • FREE Room and Board
    • Place to live year-round in your own apartment, separate access, washer & dryer, all utilities included – including internet, electric, etc.
  • $200 per week salary
  • Food stipend of $40-50/week plus all food you want from the farm
  • Partners & pets require discussion with farm owner, will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
  • For the right candidate: possibility to negotiate a plot of your own land to grow and sell your own produce. Not guaranteed.
