On Monday, February 7, 2011, the Urban Farms will host the Farm to Table Conference for Mid-South Producers in Memphis, TN at 2505 Poplar.
This conference will feature sessions on marketing to diverse outlets, technology and social media, production practices, and health department rules and regulations. This conference will provide space for farmers, producers, market managers, chefs, food advocates, and other local food stakeholders to learn from each other and access new markets through peer-led sessions.
The Farm to Table Conference for Mid-South Producers will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and feature concurrent breakout sessions. While we are inviting experts on a variety of topics, we recognize that one of the most valuable resources that farmers and producers have is the collective experience and knowledge of other farmers! Therefore, while some sessions have been set in advance, other topics will be chosen the day of based on YOUR interests using a conference format called “Open Space Technology”. This way, we will ensure that the topics presented are those that are most important to you. Likewise, you may be called upon to share your expertise in a particular area with other producers and local food stakeholders. A brief description of the conference style is attached.
In addition, vendors and representatives from Edible Memphis, Shelby County Health Department, Pick TN Products, Farm Service Agency, and the Food Policy Council will be there to answer your questions and tell you about their services. Lunch will be provided.
