Flower Farm Internships and Apprenticeships

Crescendum Flower Farm

Crescendum Flower Farm Internships and Apprenticeships in Arvada, CO for the 2021 Season

Crescendum Flower Farm in Arvada, CO (just west of Denver) is a 1.6 acre micro farm that focuses on growing stunning flowers using organic practices.  We launched the farm in early 2020, just before the pandemic hit, which threw a good deal of our plans for a loop.  But we readjusted, added produce to our farm, and carried on.  For the 2021 season we are looking to more than double our fields, growing into our unused pastures and also add a handful of the sustainably focused events that we have been dreaming of.

Our lead farmer, Krista, is a Master Composter for the City of Denver and has established the farm as a satellite educational site for free composting classes for the community.  An Internship/apprenticeship with Crescendum Flower Farm is a great opportunity to see a farm begin to come together from almost the very start.  We are micro, so your experience here will be hands-on and directly with the owner/farmers.  Here are some of the items you will learn throughout the season:

  • Farm planning
  • Seed starting and staggering
  • Field prep
  • Transplanting and tuber planting
  • Harvesting for wholesale, retail and event
  • Marketing
  • Composting
  • Fall planting for spring
  • Fall prep for winter

Flower Farm Apprenticeships will be granted to those with some farm, environmental or sustainability experience who are looking to further their knowledge and possibly start down their own farming path.  One apprentice position will be mainly focused on marketing.

Flower Farm Internships will be granted to both high school and college students with a degree interest in agriculture, environmental studies, sustainability or marketing.

These positions require roughly a 10 hour per week commitment and are unpaid at this time.  We hope to be able to change that in the future and can promise to send you home each week with some fresh flowers and produce.  Intern/apprenticeships start mid-May and run through early-October, but we’re always in need of additional hands if you’d like to get started sooner.

We don’t just work on this land, this soil is where our home is.  We put a good amount of intention into what we grow and intend on putting that same attention towards those who dig into the dirt next to us.  We look forward to hearing from you! – The Kushik Family
