We’re Chris and Audrey, the owners and farmers of Billy Goat Hop Farm located in Montrose, Colorado.  We grow 11 varieties of hops on 32 acres.  We do every aspect of farming and processing ourselves and sell directly to breweries.   We are looking for one person to work alongside us.  Learn more about us at www.billygoathopfarm.com, or find us on Facebook or Instagram @billygoathopfarm.

Hop Farm Job Timeline:

Early May – Late October,  4-7 days/week depending on projects.  There is definitely room for flexibility in the schedule, and at the same time, during stringing and harvest, we’ll need you everyday.

Type of work:

You’ll be doing all aspects of hop farming, including irrigation, fertigation, stringing, training, weeding, tractor work, harvest and pelletizing.  It’s basically all outdoor manual labor.  You’ll need to be able to be on your feet all day and be able to lift at least 45 pounds at a time.   Previous farming experience is ideal, although not required.  A strong work ethic, an eagerness to listen and learn, and a positive attitude are a definite.

The positives!:

Hop yards are truly incredible places!  You’ll get the opportunity to work with a state of the art drip irrigation system and also learn fertigation.  You’ll gain tractor work experience and learn all about one of the coolest plants ever.   Located in SW Colorado, you are within 2 hours of tons of outdoor activities – the San Juan Mountains, Ouray, Telluride, Crested Butte, Moab.  Any type of adventure is close by.  We have an incredible view of the mountains too.  If you have a camper/RV or even just a tent, you’re welcome to live on the farm for FREE!

Pay:

Minimum $14/hr with the potential to increase.  There will also be a bonus at the end of harvest.
