Organic Citrus Grove Manager Job in California Sundance Natural Foods Company is a dynamic and rapidly-growing grower and packer of premium organic citrus and avocados located in Oceanside, California.  Sundance is family owned and operated and has been in business for more than 40 years.  Sundance is currently seeking an experienced, energetic and hardworking individual to oversee their expanding grove management division.  This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of irrigation and grove management and maintenance for 300+ acres of organic mixed citrus and avocado trees.  Will directly manage 6 grove maintenance/irrigation employees. Significant previous experience in grove management and agriculture is required.  The ideal candidate will be bilingual.  Sundance will offer competitive compensation according to the candidate’s experience level.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

– Oversee and track all irrigation, weeding, planting, pruning, and pest control for 300 acres of mixed citrus and avocados.

– Develop and demonstrate farm work techniques and safety regulations to employees – Scout fields and identify quality issues and corrective actions

– Work with growers to resolve issues and address complaints

– Ensure compliance with NOP regulations and company GAP standards

– Represent company vision both internally and externally

– Spend 80-90% of time in the fields.

– Able to work 50-60+ hours per week, Monday-Saturday

Qualifications: 

– Knowledge of organic growing practices and methods, including irrigation, fertilization, pest control and grove maintenance

– Strong organization and communication skills

– Able to set priorities, execute and deliver on commitments

– Self-starter, ability to work independently as well as with team members and management

– Must have basic computer skills (Emailing, Word, Excel)

– Valid California Drivers License – Clean driving record and reliable transportation

– Bilingual (English/Spanish)

– Formal training or degree in agriculture or related field is a plus, but not required
