Bumbleroot Organic Farm is a certified organic farm located in Windham, Maine. Our mission is to connect people from our community with the land and the food that sustains them and to help strengthen our local food system. We use regenerative farming practices to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs which we sell at local farmers markets, to our wholesale partners, and through our CSA program.

FULL-TIME FIELD HAND (Vegetable Focus)
40 Hours A Week, April – October
Job Description:
Assistance with all daily farm activities including but not limited to: seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, setting up irrigation, washing and packing vegetables, tractor work, CSA preparation. You will be expected to work both farmers’ market shifts and CSA shifts as a part of your weekly schedule. Time will be spent in the greenhouse, in the field and at markets. Work is fast-paced and physically demanding.

Requirements:
Candidates must have at least one year of farming experience on a commercial farm. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and be on their feet for 6 hours straight. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work with efficiency in a team setting. We do not offer housing so reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary (we are located 20 minutes from downtown Portland).

Work Environment & Schedule:
The job will be 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week with a one hour unpaid lunch break. Start times are early on harvest and market days (6am), and we work in all weather conditions – rain, shine, and sometimes even snow! Bumbleroot’s daily field operations are managed by three of Bumbleroot’s owners with whom you will work closely.

FULL-TIME FIELD HAND (Flower Focus)
40 Hours A Week, April – October
Job Description:
This full-time position will work with both vegetables and flowers with a focus on cut flower production. Assistance with all daily farm activities including but not limited to: seeding, transplanting, weeding, setting up irrigation, trellising vegetables and flowers, pinching & deadheading, harvesting, cleaning, and making floral arrangements and bouquets. Some days will be spent entirely with the vegetable crew, harvest days will start in the flower field and in the studio making bouquets for farmers’ markets and our flower CSA. Time will be spent in the greenhouse, in the field and in the flower processing/design space, with a potential for farmers’ market shifts. Work is fast-paced and physically demanding.

We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work with efficiency in a team setting. PART-TIME HARVEST CREW
2 Days Per Week, Tuesdays And Fridays, June – September
Job Description:
This part-time position is focused on helping with our busy harvest days. Time will primarily be spent harvesting, washing, and packing for our farmers’ markets, CSA and wholesale accounts, though there is always a potential for additional field work such as seeding, planting, and weeding. Our harvest days are Tuesdays and Fridays, and we are looking for someone with consistent availability from June through the end of September. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate college schedules as we need help through our busy fall harvest.

Requirements:
Part-time candidates must be able to lift 50lbs. and be on their feet for 6 hours straight. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work with efficiency in a team setting. Work on harvest days is very fast-paced and physically demanding. Reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary (we are located 20 minutes from downtown Portland).

Work Environment & Schedule:
The job will be 8-9 hours per day, 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Fridays), with a one hour unpaid lunch break. Start times are early on harvest days (6am), and we work in all weather conditions. Bumbleroot’s daily field operations are managed by three of Bumbleroot’s owners with whom you will work closely.

PART-TIME FIELD HAND
2 Days Per Week, Mondays And Thursdays, June – October
Job Description:
This part-time position is focused on helping with our field work. Time will primarily be spent seeding in the greenhouse, planting in the field, prepping beds with fertilizer, compost, irrigation and pest protection, as well as lots of weeding and harvesting. Our field days are Mondays and Thursdays, and we are looking for someone with consistent availability from June through October.

Requirements:
Part-time candidates must be able to lift 50lbs. and be on their feet for 6 hours straight. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent listening and communication skills, and ability to work with efficiency in a team setting. Work is very fast-paced and physically demanding. Reliable transportation to and from the farm is necessary (we are located 20 minutes from downtown Portland).

Work Environment & Schedule:
The job will be 8 hours per day (7am-4pm), 2 days per week (Mondays and Thursdays), with a one hour unpaid lunch break. We work in all weather conditions – rain, shine and all different temperatures. It is your responsibility to come prepared for anything.  Bumbleroot’s daily field operations are managed by three of Bumbleroot’s owners with whom you will work closely.
