The Fauquier Education Farm in Warrenton, Virginia is accepting applications for their Small Farm Incubator Program

Small Farm Incubator Program Application Deadline: February 16th, 2018

The Fauquier Education Farm has recently announced their new Small Farm Incubator Program. This is an opportunity for up to 4 new farmers to maintain a plot of their own at the Fauquier Education Farm. This will include a quarter acre plot, with access to irrigation and a deer fence. This also includes some equipment access and material support, as well as twice monthly one-on-one consultation with the Education Farm Executive Director.

This opportunity is intended to support aspiring new farmers who are ready to launch a farm business but do not yet have land and equipment of their own, this is not intended for individuals who want a garden for their personal consumption. Business plans will be submitted with the application and will be reviewed each year before renewing the contract. All new farmers in this program will be required to complete the Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program.

About the Fauquier Education Farm

The Fauquier Education Farm, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2010. The original plan of establishing a community farm was initiated by the Fauquier Community Action committee in 2009. In 2010 a new non-profit organization was established to further develop a program of agricultural education and the growing of fresh produce for lower income residents.

The work of the Farm is led by the Fauquier Education Farm Executive Director.

The Virginia Co-operative Extension office in Fauquier County plays a critical role in the operation of the Fauquier Education Farm (FEF). Extension staff members serve as advisors to the FEF board and to the Director. The Farm, located on Fauquier County property on Meetze Road, serves as a laboratory to pilot new techniques as well as to provide continuing agricultural education to interested citizens.
