Beginning Farmer Training from Soil Born Farms in California

Soil Born Farms, located near Sacramento, California is excited to announce the launch of the second cohort of their Grow Your Groceries beginning farmer training program. Focusing on training aspiring growers in the urban and peri-urban area, the eight month-long course includes 11-14 classes held at the American River Ranch in Rancho Cordova, educational farm visits to regional organic farms, hands-on field hours at Soil Born Farms’ fifty-five acre American River Ranch or the Farm on Hurley Way, a two-acre urban farm, and one-on-one technical assistance on business, logistical, and production topics.

Here’s what one students is saying about the course: “As a first year farmer going into commercial farming the Grow Your Groceries classes have given me a platform to start my business. The opportunity to tour different farms and gain knowledge from experienced growers combined with the
business and marketing courses have pointed me in the right direction. The classes gave me the knowledge that has set me up for a successful farming
operation.” –Michael Whamond, Hillview Farm, Auburn
