Poultry Processing Training in Massachusetts

New Entry Sustainable Farming Project Presents Hands-on Poultry Processing Training – July 11, 2014 (8:00 am – 1:00 pm) in Concord, Massachusetts

Details and registration here (Registration closes July 8)

This training event will prepare you to slaughter, process and sell poultry under a Massachusetts state slaughter license. In addition to plenty of hands-on instruction, we will cover HACCP and other food safety and sanitation measures, product handling and storage, recordkeeping, and post-harvest storage and transportation. The training applies both to those interested in renting a mobile poultry processing unit (MPPU) and those interested in building their own mobile or stationary on-farm facility.

… And yes, when we say “hands-on” we mean that you will be participating in slaughtering and process chickens. So, you know, plan to wear some old clothes. (We’ll send more details about what to wear etc. in a followup email to registrants.)

If you have questions about the training, you can email sanderson@commteam.org. To get yourself prepared for the training, see our Poultry Processing Resources page.
