Internships at Heifer Farm in Massachusetts

Heifer International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization working to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. There are open residential volunteer positions (internships) at Heifer Farm in Rutland, Massachusetts which is a learning/teaching center. Volunteering for Heifer changes lives – including yours.

Volunteers receive housing, a $400/month stipend, 2-days off per week as well as additional vacation days, access to farm vehicles and a discount in our fair-trade gift shop. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and fluent in English.

We currently have openings beginning August 20, 2014 in our Education, Guest Operations, Farmer Chef and Farm Hand departments.

EDUCATION volunteers lead tours, education activities & programs with mostly youth participants; Assist with daily livestock chores and periodically with reception.

GUEST OPERATIONS volunteers answer phones, gift shop sales, light housekeeping and data entry; Lead tours, education activities & programs.

FARMER CHEF volunteers assist part-time with meal preparation for program participants and part-time with gardening or livestock; Periodically lead education programs.

FARM HAND volunteers assist in all farm work associated with daily livestock feeding, well-being checks, fencing repairs, maintenance, construction and janitorial; Periodically lead education programs.
