Farm Hand Positions for Chilmark General Store farm in Martha’s Vineyard – MA (2014)

Chilmark General Store on Martha’s Vineyard is seeking Farm Hands for their garden/farm in Chilmark for the 2014 season (May to October). As a Farm Hand you will be responsible for assisting in daily farm and garden operations. Responsibilities include: preparing soil, and pastures, planting, weeding, harvesting, preparing produce for retail presentation and kitchen use, caring for chicken and sheep.  This is a small operation in a beautiful setting.  You will get first hand experience working directly with the farm owners and a handful of other Farm Hands.  Full-time and part-time positions available.

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience.  Workers Compensation.

Onsite shared housing is available for two full-time Farm Hands.

Housing provided in exchange for 10 hours/week.  Internet Access, Cable TV, laundry accessible.

Requirements: Must have some experience with gardening or small-scale farming.

Physical requirements:Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
